Feature: browser mode

A ChatGPT and Claude overlay for Windows

Browser mode turns AuraCloak into a small always-on-top browser for ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity. You log in with your normal account, so your ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro plan works without an API key, and Windows keeps the window out of screen shares.

Why an overlay

A ChatGPT window that stays put and stays private

Maybe you already pay for ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. The friction is getting to it. A browser tab disappears behind Zoom the moment you click into the call. Picture-in-picture extensions keep ChatGPT on top, but the floating window is an ordinary window, so it shows up the second you share your whole screen.

AuraCloak's browser mode puts the real ChatGPT or Claude site inside a window that floats above everything, fades to any opacity between 20% and 100%, lets clicks pass through with Alt+C, and hides or returns with Ctrl+Alt+Space. Windows excludes the whole window from capture, so a full-screen share in Teams shows your slides and not your chat.

Because it is the actual website, everything on your plan comes along: your model picker, custom GPTs, Claude Projects with your uploaded files, and your chat history.

Scenarios

What people open in browser mode

ChatGPT Plus during meetings

Ask a question mid-call in the same ChatGPT account you use all day, with your custom instructions already set. More on meetings.

A Claude Project with your docs

Upload the product spec, pricing sheet or runbook to a Claude Project once. Open that project in the overlay and every answer draws on it. Useful on sales calls.

Perplexity for sourced fact checks

When someone quotes a statistic, look it up with citations without leaving the call.

Any page you need to read privately

The URL bar takes any site: a Google Doc with your talk script, a Notion runbook, internal docs. See invisible teleprompter.

Example prompts

Prompts typed into ChatGPT and Claude in the overlay

Replies are examples and will vary by model and plan.

ChatGPT, mid-meeting

You: they keep saying "net revenue retention" vs "gross revenue retention". difference in one line?

Reply: GRR counts only revenue lost to churn and downgrades; NRR also adds expansion from existing customers, so NRR can exceed 100% and GRR can't.

Claude Project with pricing sheet

You: does the Team plan include audit logs?

Reply: No. In the uploaded pricing sheet, audit logs are listed under Enterprise only (page 2, "Security").

Perplexity

You: when did the EU AI Act start applying to general-purpose AI models?

Reply: The obligations for general-purpose AI models started applying on 2 August 2025, with sources listed under the answer.

ChatGPT, quick draft

You: 3-line Slack message telling the team the launch moved to Thursday, upbeat but clear

Reply: Heads up: launch moves to Thursday. We found a payments edge case and want it fixed first. Same plan otherwise, see you at standup.

FAQ

ChatGPT and Claude overlay questions

Do I need an API key for browser mode?

No. Browser mode loads the normal ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity website inside the overlay and you log in with your usual account. No API key and no extra AI cost beyond the plan you already have.

Does my ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription work in the overlay?

Yes. You are using the same website with the same login, so your plan, its models, its usage limits and your saved chats all carry over.

Is browser mode hidden from screen share?

Yes. The browser runs inside the AuraCloak window, which Windows excludes from capture with WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE. Zoom, Teams, Google Meet in a browser, OBS and Loom leave it out. It needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later, and a camera pointed at your monitor can still see it.

Where are my browser logins stored?

In a separate WebView2 profile on your PC at %APPDATA%\AuraCloak\WebView2Browser\, apart from your Chrome or Edge profile. The Clear browser data button in Settings > General logs you out of every site.

Can I switch between browser mode and an API provider?

Yes. Pick Browser or any configured provider from the dropdown in the overlay's title bar. The switch takes effect immediately, so you can use ChatGPT web for one question and your Claude API key for the next.
