An AI interview prep assistant for Windows
AuraCloak is a desktop AI window for getting ready: rehearse answers out loud, turn your experience into STAR stories, research the company and run mock interviews with the model you choose. It floats over the job description or your resume, so you prepare without juggling tabs.
Interview prep with AI, on top of your own documents
Dedicated mock-interview sites such as Star Method Coach and Interview Prep.io give you a question bank, a scorecard and model answers, on a monthly subscription, inside their web app. They are good at that. What they can't do is sit on top of the job posting you have open, read the resume PDF on your desktop, or use the ChatGPT or Claude plan you already pay for.
AuraCloak is a general AI assistant, so you write the coaching rules yourself (we give you a starting prompt below). In return you get one always-on-top window that works with every document you prepare from. Press Alt+S to screenshot the job description and ask what the hiring team will probe. Drag your resume in. Practice an answer aloud with Alt+V and get feedback on structure and length.
One line on scope, because this category attracts the wrong kind of tool. AuraCloak is for the hours before and after an interview. During the interview, follow the interviewer's rules. If outside help isn't allowed, close it.
Six prep sessions you can run with it
Build STAR stories from your resume
Attach your resume PDF and ask for STAR drafts of your strongest projects. Then fix them, because the AI doesn't know what you actually did.
Run a mock interview
Set a system prompt for the exact role and level. The AI asks one question at a time and waits for your answer.
Practice out loud
Answer by voice with Alt+V. Ask whether the answer ran long, buried the result or said "we" where it should say "I".
Research the company
Open their careers page or latest annual report, press Alt+S, and ask what they keep emphasizing and how your experience maps to it.
Prepare questions to ask them
Ask for questions that show you read the role, then cut the generic ones.
Debrief afterward
Dictate what they asked while it is fresh. Get a list of weak answers to rework and a thank-you email draft that mentions a real topic from the call.
A mock interviewer system prompt
Paste this into Settings as the system prompt, then change the role. It keeps the AI asking instead of lecturing.
- Ask for one question at a time, or you get a list of ten
- Ask for a score plus one edit, so feedback stays usable
- Ask it to flag missing numbers, a common gap in practice answers
What a prep session looks like
Replies are examples and will vary by model.
You: from my resume, the churn dashboard project. STAR story under 90 seconds spoken
Reply: S: Churn reports took a week and arrived after renewals. T: You owned a self-serve view. A: You rebuilt the pipeline in dbt and... R: [add your number: how much faster, how many teams used it]
You (Alt+V): "Tell me about a time you disagreed with a stakeholder..." (your 2-minute answer)
Reply: Structure 7/10. The situation takes 50 seconds; cut it to 15. The result has no number. You say "we" eleven times; say what you did.
You: Alt+S this is their careers page. what do they seem to value, and which of my projects fit?
Reply: They mention "ownership" and "speed of iteration" four times. Your churn dashboard and the pricing experiment both show shipping fast without being asked.
You: draft a short thank-you email to Dana, mention the data pipeline migration we discussed
Reply: Hi Dana, thanks for walking me through the pipeline migration today. The plan to move reporting off the nightly batch...

AI interview prep questions
Can AuraCloak run a mock interview?
Yes. Write a system prompt that sets the role, the company type and the rules, for example one behavioral question at a time with a score and one suggested edit after each answer. AuraCloak sends that prompt and the last 10 exchanges with every message, so the interviewer stays in character.
Can I practice answering out loud?
Yes. Press Alt+V, answer into your microphone, and press Alt+V again to stop and send the transcript for feedback. Windows speech works with no setup. Local Whisper runs offline so your practice audio never leaves your PC.
Should I use AuraCloak during a live interview?
AuraCloak is built for preparation and review, before and after the interview. Many employers do not allow outside help during an interview, so follow the interviewer's rules. If aids are not allowed, close AuraCloak before the call starts.
Which AI model should I use for interview practice?
Whatever you already have. Browser mode works with a ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro or Gemini login at no extra cost. With an API key you can use OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Azure OpenAI or a local model through Ollama, and switch between them from the title bar.
What does AuraCloak cost?
$9 a month or $49 once for lifetime access, with every feature in both plans. AI usage is billed by your provider if you use an API key, or costs nothing extra in browser mode.
