Cluely download for Windows: how to install it, step by step

What do you need before downloading Cluely on Windows?

Cluely's download page lists these Windows requirements (checked October 11, 2026):

Two cases the page doesn't cover. Windows 10 isn't listed at all, so if winver says Windows 10 you're outside what Cluely supports. And Windows 11 PCs with Arm processors (many Snapdragon laptops) aren't listed either. Windows 11 on Arm can run a lot of x64 software through emulation, but you'd be on your own if something breaks. Installing on a work laptop

This is where most failed installs actually happen. Company-managed PCs often block unknown installers, strip microphone access from desktop apps, or flag any software that records audio and screenshots. If your laptop is managed by IT, ask before you try, and be specific: Cluely uploads call audio, transcripts and screenshots to its own servers. Some IT teams will say yes to that. Others, especially in finance, healthcare and legal, have rules against recording tools that every participant hasn't agreed to. Getting a "no" in writing up front is better than an awkward conversation after a security scan flags the app.

How do you download and install Cluely on Windows?

1. Go to cluely.com/download directly. Type the address rather than clicking a search ad. Download portals also list Cluely, and there's no reason to take the installer from anyone but Cluely.
2. Click the Windows download. When we checked, the button pointed to api.v2.cluely.com/desktop-download/win/latest.exe, which redirected to a file named Cluely Setup 2.0.198.exe on desktop-releases.v2.cluely.com. The file was 228,906,712 bytes, roughly 229 MB. The version number will change as Cluely ships updates.
3. Don't hunt for older builds. Because the official link always points to "latest", downloading again later gets you the newest version. File names shared on forums go stale quickly, and an old build is more likely to misbehave after a Windows update.
4. Check the file before running it. Right-click the .exe, choose Properties, and open the Digital Signatures tab if there is one. The signer should be Cluely's company. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, read who the publisher is before clicking through.
5. Run the installer. Double-click it and follow the prompts. At 229 MB it takes a little longer than a typical small utility, so give it a minute.
6. Sign in or create an account. Cluely needs an account; the Starter plan is free.
7. Allow microphone access. If Cluely can't hear you, open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and make sure "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is on.
8. Learn the one shortcut that matters. Ctrl+Enter asks Cluely for help with the current moment of the call.

How do you test Cluely before a real call?

Do this once. It takes five minutes and saves you from guessing in front of a client.

1. Start a Zoom or Microsoft Teams meeting with only yourself in it.
2. Open Cluely and ask it something so the overlay is visible.
3. Share your entire screen and start a local recording.
4. Stop after 30 seconds and play the recording back.

On the free Starter plan and on Pro, expect to see the Cluely overlay in the recording. Cluely's pricing page lists "undetectability" during screen share only in the Pro + Undetectability plan. If the overlay is in your recording, the people watching your share will see it too.

What are the common Cluely problems on Windows?

The last two come from user reviews. On Trustpilot, several reviewers complained that Cluely was hard to remove or kept reopening, which is why the uninstall steps below include the startup check.

How do you uninstall Cluely on Windows?

1. Cancel any paid plan first, inside your Cluely account, and keep the confirmation email. Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel billing, and unexpected renewals are the top complaint in Cluely's reviews.
2. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Cluely, and choose Uninstall.
3. Check Settings > Apps > Startup and make sure nothing named Cluely is left.
4. If you want your data deleted, request it through your account or by contacting Cluely; its privacy policy says it deletes personal data after account cancellation, subject to legal and backup retention.
