Choose Cluely if you want an AI that listens to meetings and sales calls, takes notes and suggests replies, from free to $149.99 a month on Mac, Windows 11 and iPhone. Interview Coder is a narrower tool for technical interviews on Windows and Mac at $299 a month or $799 lifetime (checked October 2026).
Cluely or Interview Coder: which should you pick?
Pick Cluely if most of your calls are meetings, client calls or sales demos, you want notes written for you, and you'd like to start free. It's the more general product.
Pick Interview Coder only if your need is specifically technical interviews (coding, system design) and you're comfortable paying $299 a month or $799 once. Read the note on employer rules further down first.
Pick neither if what you really want is a private AI window on Windows for everyday work. Cluely charges $149.99 a month for screen share hiding, and Interview Coder's plans are priced for a few high-stakes hours rather than daily use.

How are Cluely and Interview Coder related?
Roy Lee and Neel Shanmugam built Interview Coder in early 2025 while studying at Columbia University. Columbia suspended them over it in March 2025, and in April they launched Cluely with Alex Chen, using the same overlay idea for a much wider audience. Cluely then raised $20.3 million in 2025 and repositioned as a mainstream meeting assistant.
Interview Coder kept going as its own product at interviewcoder.co. Its site today doesn't name a founder or team, and it even publishes reviews of Cluely, so in practice they compete. If you searched "cluely interview coder" expecting one company, that's the reason for the confusion.
How we compared
We build AuraCloak, a Windows overlay that overlaps with both, so we're not neutral. We read cluely.com (pricing, download, privacy policy), interviewcoder.co (home page plans, which it publishes in its structured data, and its FAQ), Cluely's Trustpilot profile and third-party reviews from PracHub, LinkJob and ShadeCoder. We didn't buy either paid plan. Where we say "vendor claim", we couldn't verify it.
Which is better for meetings and sales calls?
Cluely, clearly. It's built for this. It listens to the whole conversation, keeps notes, and on Ctrl+Enter or Cmd+Enter suggests a reply or follow-up with the recent context loaded. After the call you get a recap you can share. It works across Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Slack and Webex without joining as a bot.
Interview Coder isn't designed for any of that. It has no notes, no recaps and no sales or meeting mode, and paying $299 a month to use it as a general meeting helper would make little sense.
The caveat with Cluely is the same one we raise everywhere: if you need the overlay hidden from your full-screen share, that's $149.99 a month, and Trustpilot reviews (1.7 out of 5 from 22 in October 2026) complain mostly about billing.
Which is better for coding work?
For day-to-day coding, honestly neither is the obvious choice. Interview Coder is tuned for interview-style problems: LeetCode-type questions and system design. Cluely can read a screenshot of code and comment on it, but it's not a coding tool and doesn't let you choose the model.
Reviews of Interview Coder are mixed to negative on value. PracHub's July 2026 review concluded it isn't worth it for most candidates, pointing to price and reliability, and ShadeCoder (a competitor) reports forum users unhappy that the experience didn't match the premium cost. Its own site claims 150,000+ users, which we can't verify. There's no Trustpilot page for it.
If you just want an AI to look at code on your screen while you work, a general overlay with a strong coding model (Claude, GPT, Gemini or GitHub Copilot) does the job for much less. That's the use case on our coding overlay page.
What does each cost over a year?
| Plan | Price | 12-month cost |
|---|---|---|
| Cluely Starter | Free | $0 |
| Cluely Pro | $19.99/mo, or from $11.99/mo yearly | $143.88 to $239.88 |
| Cluely Pro + Undetectability | $149.99/mo | $1,799.88 |
| Interview Coder Monthly Pro | $299/mo, 1,000 credits | $3,588 |
| Interview Coder Lifetime Pro | $799 once | $799 |
| AuraCloak | $9/mo or $49 once | $108, or $49 lifetime |
Prices checked October 2026 on cluely.com/pricing and interviewcoder.co. AuraCloak's price excludes AI usage, which you pay your provider for, or $0 extra in browser mode with an existing ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login. See AuraCloak pricing.
Which one fits which situation?
- You run six discovery calls a day on a MacBook. Cluely Pro. Notes and live hints are the point, and you probably don't need screen share hiding if you share single windows.
- You're a consultant on Windows 10 presenting spreadsheets all day. Neither runs well for you: Cluely lists Windows 11 only, and Interview Coder isn't built for meetings. A Windows-native overlay fits better.
- You're practicing LeetCode problems at home. You don't need stealth or a $299 plan for practice. Any strong model in a chat window works, and so does a mock interview platform.
- Your company bans call recording tools. Cluely is out because it records by design. Look for a tool that only takes the input you type or speak yourself.

What about Cluely vs Final Round AI?
People comparing these two usually also look at Final Round AI. It sits between them: an interview-focused product like Interview Coder, but with a free tier and a broader prep program (practice interviews in eight scenarios, automatic debriefs, a goal for each job). Pro is listed at $25 a month and up on finalroundai.com, with no free trial for the live copilot. If your goal is preparing for interviews, Final Round is closer to that than Cluely is. Our Final Round AI review covers it in full.
Are these tools allowed in live interviews?
Often not. Many employers set rules about outside help during interviews and assessments, and breaking them can cost you an offer. Check the rules for each process. We think the safer and more durable use of AI is before the interview: rehearsing answers, building STAR stories, and reviewing your notes. Our interview prep page describes how we'd do that.
Where does AuraCloak fit?
AuraCloak is a different shape from both. It's a Windows-only overlay that's excluded from screen capture on both plans, and it never listens to your calls. You type, use Alt+V push-to-talk on your own mic, or press Alt+S to screenshot what's on screen. You choose the AI: your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot or Azure OpenAI access, a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, or your ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login in browser mode. People use it for meetings, sales calls, presentations and coding. It costs $9 a month or $49 once. No Mac app, and no meeting notes; if you need those, Cluely is the better pick.
A private AI overlay for Windows at $49 once, compared with $149.99 a month or $799.

FAQ
Is Interview Coder made by Cluely?
Interview Coder was built by Roy Lee and Neel Shanmugam before they founded Cluely in April 2025. Today interviewcoder.co is sold as a separate product, doesn't name its team, and publishes its own reviews of Cluely, so the two compete.
Which is cheaper, Cluely or Interview Coder?
Cluely, by a wide margin. Cluely has a free plan, Pro at $19.99 a month and Pro + Undetectability at $149.99 a month. Interview Coder charges $299 a month or $799 for lifetime access (both checked October 2026).
Does Interview Coder work on Windows?
Yes. Interview Coder offers desktop downloads for Windows and Mac. Cluely also has a Windows app, but its download page lists Windows 11 on x64 only.
Can Cluely help with coding?
It can read a screenshot of code and explain or suggest changes, but it isn't a coding tool and you can't choose the model. For regular coding help, a general AI overlay with a coding-strong model you pick is usually a better fit.
Cluely vs Final Round AI: which is better?
They target different jobs. Cluely is a general meeting assistant with notes. Final Round AI is an interview preparation suite with practice interviews and debriefs, with Pro listed from $25 a month. For interview prep, Final Round is closer to the need.
