How we compared
We make AuraCloak, so read this knowing whose site you're on. Interview Coder's details come from interviewcoder.co, read on October 11, 2026. Where its page doesn't say something (which models it runs, how screenshots work), we write "not stated" rather than fill the gap.
Interview Coder pricing vs AuraCloak pricing
Interview Coder's site lists three options. The free download lets you explore the app, but AI features need a subscription. Monthly Pro is $299 a month for 1,000 usage credits (shown struck through from $499). Lifetime Pro is $799 one-time (struck through from $1,598). Both paid plans include the AI.
AuraCloak's two plans include every feature: $9 a month or $49 once. AI usage isn't included. You either pay your provider per use through an API key, or use browser mode and run ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini web inside the overlay on a subscription you already have.
| Scenario | Interview Coder | AuraCloak |
|---|---|---|
| One month | $299 | $9 + AI usage |
| One year, monthly billing | $3,588 | $108 + AI usage |
| Lifetime license | $799 | $49 + AI usage |
| Lifetime + a year of $20/mo API usage | $799 (AI included) | $289 |
That last row is a deliberately heavy guess at API spend, and AuraCloak still costs less than half. With browser mode on an existing ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro plan, the extra AI cost is $0. Interview Coder's lifetime license pays for itself against its own monthly plan in under three months, so if you're choosing between its two tiers, lifetime is the obvious pick. Our full plans are on the AuraCloak pricing page.
Where Interview Coder is stronger
Interview Coder is single-minded, and that has real benefits if technical interviews are all you care about. It captures and transcribes interviewer audio so its AI can work from spoken questions. It lists support for interview types well beyond coding: system design, behavioral, full stack, AI and ML, consulting, data analyst, trading and product management. Paid plans come with 24/7 support. And it ships a Mac version.
You also never think about AI providers. No keys, no usage dashboards, no second bill.
Where AuraCloak is stronger: everyday coding help on Windows
AuraCloak isn't an interview product. On the coding side, it's a fast way to ask a model about whatever is on your screen without leaving your IDE, and that's useful every day rather than for a few interviews a year.
A typical loop: a test fails with a long stack trace. You press Alt+S. AuraCloak hides itself, grabs every monitor (or just one with Alt+Shift+2), and attaches the image to the chat. You type "why is this null here?" and the answer streams back as markdown with code blocks. Alt+C turns on click-through so you can keep typing in the editor underneath while the answer stays visible. Ctrl+Alt+Space hides it all.
Model choice is where it pulls ahead. Sign in with GitHub and AuraCloak uses your existing GitHub Copilot subscription. Or connect OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini, Azure OpenAI, or a local coding model through Ollama or LM Studio, and switch between them from the overlay when one model gets stuck. A custom system prompt sets the tone for every answer ("terse, show diffs only").
For interview practice, the same tools work: screenshot a practice problem, talk through your approach out loud with Alt+V (Local Whisper keeps the audio on your PC), and ask the model to critique your solution. Many employers treat hidden live help during an interview as a rules violation, so keep a copilot out of real interviews unless the rules allow it.
Screenshot a stack trace, ask GPT, Claude or Copilot, keep coding. $49 once.
Get AuraCloakScreen share privacy
Interview Coder describes a set of overlay and display features meant to keep it hidden while you share your screen. We haven't tested them.
AuraCloak asks Windows to exclude its window from capture with WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE. Zoom, Teams, Google Meet in a browser, Slack, Discord, OBS, Loom, Xbox Game Bar, Snipping Tool and PrintScreen all leave it out, which is handy when you're sharing an IDE during pairing and don't want your side questions on the stream. The limits are plain: a camera pointed at your monitor sees it, remote desktop and hardware capture cards are outside Windows capture APIs, and Windows builds before 2004 show a black box. There's no account, no telemetry and no chat sync.
