Yes, Granola is available for Windows. Download it from granola.ai, run Granola.exe, and sign in with a Google or Microsoft account. On Windows it transcribes your computer audio and microphone without a meeting bot, and the audio permissions are granted automatically. Basic is free; Business is $14 per user per month. Checked October 2026.
Is Granola available on Windows?
Yes. Granola's homepage says it's "available for macOS, Windows, iOS, Android", and its help center says Granola runs on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, connected to a Google or Microsoft account. Desktop transcription works the same way on Windows as on Mac: meetings in any app, in-person conversations, voice memos and audio playing on your computer.
Older posts and job listings that say "Mac only" predate the Windows release. If a search result tells you to wait for Windows, it's stale.
How to download and install Granola on Windows
- Go to granola.ai and click the download button. The site detects your device and offers the Windows installer.
- Open Granola.exe from your Downloads folder and let the installer run.
- Launch Granola from the Start menu.
- Sign in with Google (Workspace or personal Gmail) or a Microsoft account. Granola only supports these two single sign-on options.
- Connect your calendar so Granola can match notes to meetings.
On Windows, Granola's docs say microphone and system audio permissions are granted automatically, so there's no permission prompt like the one Mac users get. If transcription stays silent, check Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone in Windows and make sure desktop apps are allowed to use the mic.
Two things can block you. Microsoft sign-in works with cloud Microsoft 365 calendars (Exchange Online), and on-premises Exchange isn't supported. And Granola's docs list a macOS minimum (version 14) but no minimum Windows version, so if you're on an old build and the installer fails, update Windows first.
How Granola works on a Windows PC
Granola doesn't join your call. It transcribes your device audio in the background while you take rough notes in its notepad. When the meeting ends, it expands those notes using the transcript, adds action items and can draft a follow-up. You can chat with the AI about one meeting or across all of them.
That makes it work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack huddles and in-person meetings without anyone seeing a bot. It also means the other people in the meeting get no signal that a transcript exists. Telling them is on you, and in some places it's a legal requirement.
Per Granola's security page, meeting audio isn't stored; transcripts and notes are, in a US-hosted AWS environment. Consumer accounts train on anonymized data by default, and you can turn that off in Settings.
Granola on Windows vs Granola on Mac
| Windows | macOS | |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum OS | Not stated in Granola's docs | macOS 14 |
| Installer | Granola.exe from granola.ai | Download from granola.ai |
| Audio permissions | Granted automatically | You approve microphone and system audio prompts |
| Sign-in | Google or Microsoft | Google or Microsoft |
| Transcribes | Meetings in any app, in-person, voice memos, computer audio | Same |
| Meeting bot | None | None |
The help center doesn't list any Mac-only feature apart from the permission step. If you move between a Mac at home and a Windows PC at work, your notes follow your account, since they're stored in Granola's cloud rather than on the device.
Installing Granola on a work laptop
Many company PCs block installers for standard users, so you may need IT to approve Granola.exe. Two questions usually come up: where notes are stored (Granola's US-hosted AWS environment, per its security page) and whether data trains models (opt-out on consumer plans, off by default on Enterprise). If your company runs on-premises Exchange rather than Microsoft 365 in the cloud, Microsoft sign-in won't connect your calendar, so check that first.

On Windows and want live AI answers during calls, hidden from screen share? AuraCloak is $49 once.
Get AuraCloakTips for running Granola on Windows
- If you share your screen, Granola's window can appear in the share like any other app. Share a single window (the meeting app's own "share window" option) rather than the whole screen if you don't want your notes on display.
- Headphones help. With speakers, your microphone picks up the call audio twice, which can muddy the transcript.
- Flip the training opt-out in Settings before your first client meeting.
- Use the Windows key + arrow keys to snap Granola beside your meeting window so you can type notes without covering faces.
When a Windows AI overlay fits better
Granola writes notes. Sometimes what you need on Windows is different: an answer while the call is still going, on a screen you're sharing, without the AI's window showing up in the share.
That's what AuraCloak does. To be clear, it isn't a Granola replacement: it doesn't transcribe, record or summarize meetings. It's an always-on-top AI chat window built for Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) and Windows 11. It uses the Windows flag WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE, so Zoom, Teams, Google Meet in a browser, OBS and Snipping Tool leave it out of what they capture. You press Ctrl+Alt+Space, type or take a screenshot with Alt+S, and read the answer. A phone camera aimed at the monitor would still see it, and so would a hardware capture card.
It has no account, no telemetry and no chat sync, and it uses your own AI: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, a local model, or your ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login in browser mode. It costs $9 a month or $49 once. Plenty of people run Granola for the record and AuraCloak for the moment.
