Parakeet AI review (2026): credits, download and what users say

ParakeetAI is a real-time AI assistant that listens to a call and suggests answers, sold mainly on credits instead of a subscription. That pricing model is its best feature for occasional use. Here's how it works, what an hour actually costs, and what its reviews say.

Short answer

ParakeetAI listens to a call, detects questions and shows suggested answers, with Windows and Mac apps plus a Chrome version. Credits start at $29.50 for 3, and one credit covers an hour, so about $6 to $10 per hour. Trustpilot rates it 4.7 from 508 reviews; the main complaints are lag and generic answers.

Is Parakeet AI worth it?

For someone who needs real-time AI help on a handful of calls, ParakeetAI's credit packs are one of the cheaper ways to get it, and its public reviews are far better than most of the category. If you'd use it every day, the unlimited plans get expensive, and the lag complaints matter more the more you rely on it.

What is Parakeet AI?

ParakeetAI (one word on its own site) is a real-time assistant for interviews, sales calls and client meetings. Its pitch is "Get the right answer while you're still talking" (parakeet-ai.com). During a call it transcribes the other side, detects when a question is asked, and shows a suggested answer. You can upload a resume, a sales brief or a playbook and add instructions, so answers use your own material. It also reads code that's shared on screen and talks through the approach.

Around that core it sells a question bank, mock interviews, a resume maker and AI headshots. It supports 50+ languages, one per session, and lets you pick from several Gemini, GPT and Claude models.

Its site claims 1.5M+ users. We can't verify that. One notable line on the homepage: ParakeetAI says it should only be used where AI assistance is permitted, and that employers can ask to be blocklisted. That's more candid than most competitors.

Not the NVIDIA model

"Parakeet" is also the name of NVIDIA's open speech recognition models. If you searched "parakeet model" or "parakeet v2", you probably want those, not this app.

How we reviewed it

We build AuraCloak, a Windows AI overlay, so we're a competitor. In October 2026 we read parakeet-ai.com (home and pricing pages), its Trustpilot profile, its public feedback board, and reviews from AceRound and Interview Coder, both of which sell competing tools. We didn't buy credits. The pricing page showed us prices in Indian rupees because ParakeetAI prices by region, so we list those as shown and give the USD credit prices reported by two review sites.

What does Parakeet AI do well?

Credits instead of a subscription. Half a credit buys 30 minutes, so one credit is an hour of calls. Reviewers report the 3-credit pack at $29.50 and the biggest pack at $88.50 for 15 credits (9 plus 6 free). That's about $9.83 an hour on the small pack and $5.90 on the large one, with no monthly bill to forget about.

Try before you pay. A free 10-minute session with no credit card, plus a free first mock interview.

Your own material. Uploading a resume or a sales playbook makes answers less generic, which is the main weakness of tools that only hear the call.

Useful outside interviews. The sales and meeting modes are real, not an afterthought. A rep who uploads a pricing sheet and objection notes gets suggestions in the language of their own playbook, which is closer to what a sales manager would whisper than a generic model answer.

Broad compatibility. It lists Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Lark, Amazon Chime and phone calls through Google Voice.

Where does Parakeet AI fall short?

Lag under load. A post on ParakeetAI's own feedback board is titled "Severe Lag and Unresponsiveness", and some Trustpilot reviews mention slow or repeated answers after the topic changes. Reviewers note that speed depends on your connection.

Generic answers. Even with a reference document, some users found responses too general.

Unlimited plans add up. The monthly unlimited plan was ₹9,470 on the page we saw, and the weekly plan ₹4,980. Weekly plans are convenient for a short burst but expensive if they auto-renew.

No native phone app yet. Mobile is a web version for now; the site says a native app is on the way.

Refund terms aren't on the pricing page. It links to a refund policy; competitor reviews mention a 30-day money-back window with one refund per user. Read the policy itself.

What do Trustpilot and Reddit users say about Parakeet AI?

Trustpilot is unusually positive for this category. In October 2026 ParakeetAI had 4.7 out of 5 from 508 reviews: 82% five-star and 3% one-star. People praise speed, a simple setup, live transcripts they can review afterwards, and having something to fall back on when their mind goes blank. Trustpilot also notes the company replied to only 5% of negative reviews, and it doesn't fact-check reviews. G2 has a single review, marked as incentivized.

We couldn't review Reddit threads directly for this article. Interview Coder's review says per-credit pricing is the most common complaint in Reddit and Blind posts; that's a competitor's summary, so take it as a lead rather than a finding. One reason "parakeet ai reddit" searches are confusing: r/Parakeets is about the birds.

For comparison, AuraCloak is $9 a month or $49 once, with AI usage paid to your own provider or covered by a ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login in browser mode. Different product, different model: see AuraCloak pricing.

How do you download Parakeet AI for Windows?

Get it from parakeet-ai.com, which offers desktop apps for Windows and macOS. If you'd rather not install anything, it also runs in desktop Chrome, which is the route Linux users take; other browsers aren't supported for live sessions. Avoid third-party download sites, and check the installer's publisher in its Properties dialog before running it. On phones, use the mobile web version until the native app ships.

Who should use Parakeet AI, and who shouldn't?

Good fit: people with a few important calls coming up who want live suggestions without a subscription, and sales reps who want answers grounded in a playbook they upload. Check the rules of any interview process first; ParakeetAI itself says to use it only where AI help is allowed.

Poor fit: daily users who'd end up on unlimited plans, and anyone who can't send call audio to a third-party service.

If you want a private AI window all day on Windows without the call being transcribed, AuraCloak is built for that. It's excluded from screen capture by Windows on both plans, so it stays out of Zoom, Teams and Meet shares. It doesn't listen to the call; you type, use Alt+V push-to-talk on your own mic (with an offline Whisper option), or press Alt+S to screenshot. You choose the model and keep your keys on your PC.

All-day private AI on Windows, no credits to watch. $9 a month or $49 once.
