AceRound alternative: AuraCloak vs AceRound AI compared

AceRound sells interview copilot time in passes and credit packs that never auto-renew. AuraCloak sells a Windows AI overlay for $9 a month or $49 once. Both avoid a surprise renewal; they do very different things.

Short answer

Pick AceRound if you want an interview copilot that captures the interviewer's audio, transcribes it and drafts answers, plus mock interviews, a Mac app and passes with no auto-renew. Pick AuraCloak if you're on Windows and want a general ask-anything overlay with your own model or ChatGPT login, no account, for $49 once. Prices checked October 2026.

AceRound vs AuraCloak at a glance

AceRound publishes more "alternative" pages than almost anyone in this category, so it's fair that it gets one back. Facts below come from each vendor's own site.

How we compared

We make AuraCloak, so we're not neutral. AceRound's details come from aceround.app, read October 11, 2026 (its /pricing URL returned a 404, so prices are from the homepage plan list). We haven't run AceRound on a call.

AceRound pricing vs AuraCloak pricing

AceRound's no-subscription model is a real plus. You buy time, it runs out, nothing renews. Here's the menu as shown:

AceRound optionPriceWhat you getCost per hour, if fully used
Starter Pack$9.9060 minutes, never expires$9.90
Standard Credits$29.90240 minutes, never expires$7.48
Max Credits$59.90600 minutes, never expires$5.99
Weekly Pass$24.907 days unlimitedDepends on use
Monthly Pass$39.9030 days unlimitedDepends on use
Season Pass$69.9090 days unlimitedDepends on use

If you have two or three calls coming up, the $9.90 starter pack is cheaper than anything we sell. AceRound wins that case.

If you'd use an AI overlay every working day, the math flips. Three Monthly Passes in a year cost $119.70; a full year of them would be $478.80. AuraCloak's lifetime license is $49 with no time limit. You do pay your AI provider separately, or nothing extra if you use browser mode with ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. AceRound includes its AI. What a six-week job search costs on each

Take a common pattern: a job search that runs about six weeks, with eight one-hour calls you want to prepare for and practice in between. On AceRound, you'd choose between six Weekly Passes ($149.40), one Monthly Pass plus two Weekly Passes ($89.70), or two Standard credit packs for 480 minutes ($59.80, with little left for practice). The Max pack at $59.90 gives 600 minutes and is probably the best fit.

On AuraCloak, two months of the monthly plan is $18, or the lifetime license is $49 and you keep it for every search after this one. Add your AI provider's usage, which for a few hundred prep questions is usually small, or $0 extra through browser mode. The products still do different things, so price shouldn't be the only test, but the gap is wide.

Audio capture vs on-demand questions

AceRound's desktop app captures the interviewer's audio from the system, transcribes it, and streams key points plus a full answer. It can also translate across languages and use your phone as a second screen.

AuraCloak doesn't capture system audio at all. You open it with Ctrl+Alt+Space, then type, paste an image, grab a screenshot with Alt+S, or speak through your own microphone with Alt+V. The answer streams back in markdown, with code blocks if you asked for code. It keeps the last 10 exchanges as context, so you can ask a follow-up without repeating yourself.

For live transcription, AceRound is the right tool and AuraCloak isn't. For daily work where you want to look something up, draft a reply or check a number without anyone seeing your screen, AuraCloak is the simpler fit.

Using AI every day, not for one week? $49 once beats buying passes.

AI models and bring-your-own-key

AceRound doesn't name its models. AuraCloak lets you choose: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini (key or Google sign-in), GitHub Copilot (your subscription), Azure OpenAI, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint like Ollama or OpenRouter. If you already pay $20 a month for ChatGPT Plus, browser mode runs chatgpt.com inside the overlay with your login and no API key.

Privacy and screen capture

AuraCloak has no account, no telemetry and no chat sync. Keys are encrypted with Windows DPAPI. The overlay uses WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE, so Zoom, Teams, Meet in a browser, OBS, Loom and Snipping Tool leave it out. We don't claim more than that: a phone camera aimed at your monitor sees it, and hardware capture cards and remote desktop aren't covered.

AceRound's homepage makes absolute stealth promises. No tool can honestly promise that, because a camera pointed at the screen defeats any software trick. Treat absolute claims from any vendor, us included, with suspicion and test before anything important.

Interview rules

AceRound markets heavily to live interviews and assessments. Many employers and assessment platforms forbid outside help, and getting caught can cost you the offer. We'd use either tool for mock practice and prep, not live rounds.

Who should choose AceRound, and who should choose AuraCloak

Choose AceRound if:

  • You want a tool that hears the call and drafts answers on its own.
  • You need macOS or want your phone as a second screen.
  • You only need a few hours and like credits that never expire.
  • You want mock interviews with scoring.

Choose AuraCloak if:

  • You'll use an AI overlay every day on Windows and want to pay once.
  • You want to choose the model or use your existing ChatGPT login.
  • You don't want any app recording other people's audio.
  • You'd rather have documented limits than absolute claims.

FAQ

How much does AceRound cost?

When we checked in October 2026, AceRound sold a 60-minute Starter Pack for $9.90, a Weekly Pass for $24.90, a 30-day Monthly Pass for $39.90 and a 90-day Season Pass for $69.90, plus 240 and 600-minute credit packs. All are one-time payments with no auto-renewal.

Does AceRound have a free trial?

Yes. AceRound offers 30 minutes of free interview credits with no credit card. AuraCloak doesn't have a free trial.

Does AuraCloak capture system audio like AceRound?

No. AuraCloak never captures call or system audio. Voice input is your own microphone only, started and sent with Alt+V.

Can any AI overlay be completely invisible?

No. A phone camera pointed at the screen sees any overlay, and hardware capture cards work outside Windows. AuraCloak documents exactly which Windows capture paths skip its window and which don't, instead of making absolute claims.

Which is cheaper, AceRound or AuraCloak?

For a couple of calls, AceRound's $9.90 starter pack. For regular use, AuraCloak's $49 lifetime license costs less than two AceRound Monthly Passes, though you pay your AI provider separately unless you use browser mode.
