Best AI interview assistants in 2026: 8 interview copilots compared

Eight AI interview assistants, compared on what they cost, where they run, how good their mock interviews are and how hard it is to get your money back. We make one of them (AuraCloak, listed last), so we stuck to facts you can check.

Short answer

The best AI interview assistant for most people is the one that improves your practice: Final Round AI for scenario variety, Verve AI for the strongest free plan, ParakeetAI for pay-as-you-go credits. Interview Coder is the hardest to justify at $299 a month. Check each employer's rules before any live use.

How did we compare these AI interview assistants?

We read every vendor's home and pricing pages, plus the Trustpilot profiles and third-party reviews we'd already gathered for our individual reviews. We didn't buy the paid live copilots, so every claim about speed, accuracy or screen-share hiding below is the vendor's claim, labeled as such.

We weighted four things. Practice value came first: does the tool make you better at interviewing through mock interviews and feedback? We put it first because practice helps under any employer's rules, while live help is prohibited by many. Then price clarity and refund terms, platforms, and what users report about reliability.

At first we planned to rank on the live copilot features, since that's what most of these companies sell hardest. We changed our minds after reading the refund complaints and employer policies side by side: a feature you may not be allowed to use, with no trial and strict refunds, shouldn't decide the ranking.

1. Final Round AI: best for structured practice

Final Round AI builds everything around a "Goal" for a specific job: your resume, the job description and a prep checklist. Its Practice Interview mode runs eight scenarios (General, Coding, System Design, Behavioral, Product Case, Data/ML, Salary Negotiation and Recruiter Screen) and gives you a debrief after each one. The salary negotiation scenario is rare in this category and worth trying. It also sells a live Interview CoPilot with what it calls Stealth Mode.

The drawbacks are about money. The free plan covers Goals and the checklist, but practice sessions and the copilot need Pro, listed at "$25+" a month, and the pricing page says there's no free trial of live sessions. Trustpilot showed 2.9 out of 5 from 278 reviews in October 2026, with billing and refunds as the top complaint. Pick it if you want many interview types in one app and you'll read the checkout page carefully. More in our Final Round AI review and AuraCloak vs Final Round AI.

2. Verve AI: best free plan

Verve AI's free plan is the most usable we found: 5 AI mock interviews, 5 interview reports and 3 copilot sessions of 15 minutes a month, with no card. Standard raises that to unlimited mocks and 60-minute sessions; Pro to unlimited sessions of 90 minutes. It runs in a browser and on Mac, Windows and iPhone, and lists GPT-5.4, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude 4.6 and Llama 4 Maverick as models. Verve claims under 300 ms latency for its copilot.

The catch is that paid prices didn't display on its pricing page when we checked. The only figure we found, about $59.50 a month for Pro, came from a competitor's review. Pick it if you want to practice for free before spending anything. See Verve AI vs AuraCloak.

3. LockedIn AI: best platform coverage

LockedIn AI runs on Windows 10 and later, macOS 13.1 and later, Chromium browsers, iOS and Android, which is more platforms than anything else here. Around its copilot sit mock interviews with performance reports and competency scores, plus a resume builder, resume checker, cover letter generator and job tracker.

Three things held it back. Its pricing page showed plan names but no amounts in October 2026; a third-party check on September 29, 2026 found Unlimited General at $54.99 a month on promo. Monthly and quarterly plans are non-refundable once started, per its refund policy as updated September 17, 2026. And Trustpilot withheld its rating for a guideline breach after removing fake reviews. Pick it if you want one subscription for the whole job search across phone and laptop. Details in our LockedIn AI review.

4. ParakeetAI: best for occasional use

ParakeetAI sells credits instead of a subscription. One credit covers an hour; review sites report 3 credits for $29.50 and 15 for $88.50, so roughly $6 to $10 an hour. There's a free 10-minute session and the first mock interview is free. It has Windows and Mac apps and a Chrome version, lets you upload a resume or sales playbook, and lets you pick among several Gemini, GPT and Claude models.

Its Trustpilot rating was 4.7 from 508 reviews in October 2026, the best in this group. The complaints are lag and generic answers, and one post on its own feedback board is titled "Severe Lag and Unresponsiveness". ParakeetAI's homepage also says it should only be used where AI assistance is permitted, which is more candid than most of its competitors. Pick it if you have a few important sessions and don't want a recurring bill. See our ParakeetAI review.

5. Beyz AI: best for translation and phone interviews

Beyz AI bundles a desktop app, a browser meeting assistant and a phone assistant, with real-time translation in 10+ languages and role-specific cheat sheets. Every paid plan includes unlimited mock interviews and its "90s prep". Prices are on the page: $49.99 a month, $32.99 a month billed quarterly, or $24.99 a month billed every six months. The monthly plan leaves out the coding assistant.

Watch the system requirements. The desktop app needs Windows 11 22H2 or later or macOS 14, so a work laptop on Windows 10 is out. Pick it if you interview in more than one language. See Beyz AI vs AuraCloak.

6. Sensei AI: lowest yearly rate

Sensei AI (at senseicopilot.com; sensei.ai is a parked domain) calls itself a hands-free copilot. PRO is $89 a month on monthly billing or $24 a month billed yearly, and the free plan allows 15-minute copilot sessions. It adds a resume builder, a story editor and a coding copilot, and supports 30+ languages. Its site doesn't name its AI models or list mock interviews, and reviewers describe it as browser-based.

The pricing gap is the whole decision. Three months on monthly billing costs $267, almost the $288 a full year costs. Pick it only if you'd use it for a year. See Sensei AI vs AuraCloak.

7. Interview Coder: hard to recommend

Interview Coder focuses on coding and system design questions on Windows and Mac. The app is free to download, but AI features need Monthly Pro at $299 (1,000 usage credits) or Lifetime Pro at $799, and there's no mock interview mode on its site. Its homepage pitches being undetected by interviewers, which is a claim, and one we think steers buyers toward the wrong use. Independent reviews we found questioned its value and reliability, and it had no Trustpilot profile. We don't recommend it for practice: a general model does that for a fraction of the price. Read our Interview Coder review and AuraCloak vs Interview Coder.

8. AuraCloak: best for prep and everyday calls

AuraCloak is ours. It isn't an interview copilot: it doesn't listen to calls or detect questions. It's an always-on-top AI chat overlay for Windows that you type into, paste screenshots into (Alt+S), or talk to through your own microphone with push-to-talk (Alt+V). You choose the model: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, a local model through Ollama, or browser mode with your ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login. Windows leaves the window out of Zoom, Teams and Meet shares.

For interviews it's a prep workspace. Put the job description in the custom system prompt, have the model play the interviewer, and answer out loud; with Local Whisper, practice audio never leaves your PC. There's no question bank, no scoring and no Mac app, so the structure comes from prompts like the ones in our ChatGPT prompts for interview prep. After the job search ends, you keep using it in meetings and code reviews. See the interview prep use case.

Practice with the model you choose, then keep the same overlay for work calls. $9 a month or $49 once.

How do you choose an AI interview assistant?

Start from your situation rather than the feature list.

  • No budget: Verve AI's free plan for mocks, plus prompted practice in ChatGPT or Claude.
  • Many interview types in a short search: Final Round AI, on the shortest Pro term.
  • A handful of sessions: ParakeetAI credits, no renewal to forget.
  • Interviewing in a second language: Beyz AI, if your PC runs Windows 11 22H2 or later.
  • On Windows and wanting one tool beyond the job search: AuraCloak, with your own model.

Before paying for any plan, screenshot the checkout page showing the plan, price and billing period. Most complaints we read across these tools come down to someone believing they'd bought a month when they'd bought longer.

A note on live use

Many employers prohibit hidden AI help during live interviews. Amazon, Anthropic and Goldman Sachs have all said so publicly. Follow each interviewer's rules, and ask the recruiter if you're unsure. We cover the details in are AI interview assistants allowed? and explain the technology in how real-time AI interview assistants work.

If practice is what you're after, our AI mock interview practice guide has a routine and a scoring rubric, and the best AI interview prep tools roundup covers non-copilot options like Yoodli and Big Interview.

FAQ

What is the best AI interview assistant?

For practice, Final Round AI has the widest set of mock interview scenarios, Verve AI has the most generous free plan, and ParakeetAI's credits suit occasional use. The right pick depends on your platform, budget and whether the employer allows AI at all.

What is an interview copilot?

An interview copilot is an app that transcribes a live interview and suggests answers in a private window. Most also sell mock interviews and resume tools. Many employers prohibit using the live part during real interviews, so check the rules first.

Is there a free AI interview assistant?

Yes, with limits. In October 2026 Verve AI's free plan included 5 mock interviews and 3 copilot sessions of 15 minutes, Sensei AI offered 15-minute free sessions, and ParakeetAI offered a free 10-minute session and a free first mock interview.

Which AI interview assistant works on Windows?

Final Round AI, LockedIn AI, Verve AI, ParakeetAI and Interview Coder have Windows apps. Beyz AI's desktop app needs Windows 11 22H2 or later. Sensei AI is browser-based. AuraCloak runs on Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11.

Are AI interview assistants worth paying for?

For structured practice during an active job search, a few months of a mid-priced plan can be worth it. Paying $299 a month for live answers is hard to justify, especially since many employers prohibit hidden live help and refunds in this category are strict.
